What to Expect
Year-End Reflection with Bishop Yvan Mathieu
We are honoured to welcome Bishop Yvan Mathieu, OAPCE’s Liaison Bishop, who will share a year-end reflection with our community.
Featured Presentation: Emotion Coaching Made Simple, A Practical Guide for Parents and Professionals
This presentation will help parents and professionals distinguish between emotions and behaviours, recognizing that behaviours are often communication. Participants will learn a simple 2-step validation and emotion coaching approach that can be used in everyday moments to help children feel understood while still supporting boundaries and problem-solving.
The session will also explore how different emotions have different needs (for example, anxiety often needs reassurance paired with gradual exposure). It is designed to provide attendees with immediately usable strategies to support emotional development and regulation in children and teens.
About the Presenters
Dr. Michelle Fardella and Dr. Stephanie Lavoie are licensed clinical psychologists in Ontario, with experience across community mental health, private practice, hospital, and school settings. They are published researchers, active clinicians providing assessments and therapies, and educators training graduate students. In 2023, they founded WonderTree Child, Adolescent, and Family Practice, a multidisciplinary clinic based in Orangeville and serving families virtually across the province and beyond. Their team of over 30 professionals supports children, teens, young adults, and their families across a wide range of needs.
OAPCE Annual General Meeting
The evening will close with our Annual General Meeting, where we will reflect on the past year and look ahead to the future of OAPCE.
