Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus 2026

As the school year draws to a close, the Institute for Catholic Education once again invites families, schools, and communities to pray together. OAPCE is pleased to share the 2026 Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a heart that overflows with love for each and every one of us.

During Catholic Education Week, we celebrated that we are pilgrims of hope on the pathway to holiness. Together, on the journey, let us pray that the love of his Sacred Heart flows through us to all those we serve.

About the Novena

A novena is an ancient form of prayer in the Catholic tradition, consisting of nine consecutive days of prayer leading up to a particular feast day. This Novena begins with a day of preparation on Wednesday, June 3, followed by nine days of prayer, and concludes on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 12.

Each day pairs a short Scripture passage from the readings of the day with a prayer, so that our prayer is joined with the prayer of the whole Church worldwide. You can download the full Novena, with the themes and prayers for each day, below.

Pray Along With the Daily Videos

Fully narrated video versions of each day’s prayer are also available, featuring student voices from the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. They are a wonderful way for classrooms and families to pray together each day of the Novena.

As the school year comes to a close, let us pray:

Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place all our trust in you.
